My name is Ben Rabizadeh. I’m the founder of StoryTrading. Welcome to our new website.

I’m excited to tell you about myself, my journey, the genesis of StoryTrading, and how my experiences—and our community—can help you achieve your financial goals. There’s so much to cover I could write a book—and one day I likely will. But let’s start here.

I LOVE TRADING—and even more, I LOVE PREDICTING THE FUTURE.

And I don’t just mean stocks—I mean the world. There’s nothing I enjoy more than absorbing as much information as possible and predicting what happens next across geopolitics, technology, and even the weather. I can’t imagine my life without a constant firehose of data in—and predictions out.

My Trading Career
I started my career with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and initially aspired to become a biotech analyst. But life took a different path. Instead of pursuing an MBA, I became an online entrepreneur in 2001 shortly after graduating college, when I purchased a newly launched online dating site—which still provides steady income to this day.

But my experience in the markets started earlier—in the 1990s during the dot-com boom—and continued through college and beyond.

And experience—I have.

There is little I haven’t tried.

I began as a long-term fundamental investor, then moved into technical trading, headline trading, and trend trading. Each approach ultimately led to frustration.

  • Fundamental investing frustrated me because stocks didn’t trade at “fair value.”
  • Technical trading felt random and intellectually unsatisfying.
  • Headline and trend trading worked—for a while—but without fundamentals, they eventually broke down.

One common thread connected them all: The feeling that markets were chaotic, inefficient, unfair, manipulated, and unpredictable.

The StoryTrading Philosophy
After years of trading across disciplines—and collaborating with hundreds of traders—I reached my “aha” moment:

There is a reason behind everything. Always.

Everything is explainable. Everything.

The market is efficient and understandable—and once you understand markets, YOU CAN PREDICT THEM.

At StoryTrading, we believe there is always a story behind the movements in a chart—a reason for every move that may appear random or irrational. And while it’s not always easy to uncover, that story is almost always discoverable through research and collaboration.

We’ve codified this into a repeatable framework:

The 4 Pillars — catalysts, sentiment, fundamentals, and technicals. These represent the full spectrum of market participants. If you want to understand what a stock is doing—and more importantly, what it’s about to do—you must understand the combined perspective of all participants.

And the only way to do that is through these four lenses.

Respecting Others and Efficient Markets
And that brings me to a very important prerequisite to being a good StoryTrader and a valuable community member. RESPECT. That is, respect for everyone’s point of view. Why? Because if you want to have any hope of understanding markets, you need to understand PEOPLE – ALL PEOPLE – and never be dismissive of their points of view. You have no chance of understanding markets and by extension predicting markets if you think only you are right and everyone else is stupid.

In our community, gone are the fundamental investors who think they are intellectually above the rest, gone are the traders who bitch about manipulated markets, gone are the seasoned traders who look down upon trend traders. In our community, every opinion is welcome because only through having an open mind and respecting others you will finally unlock yourself from the frustration and torture every other trader faces. You will free yourself from the useless notions that markets are manipulated or inefficient. You will finally understand WHY your stock trades at the price it’s trading at today – and you will respect that price as the fair market efficient price of your asset.

Once you reach this understanding you will have taken the first step to becoming a highly profitable StoryTrader. Congratulations! Your Journey has just begun.
